Aimee, thank you for this! It must've felt freeing to hop on your bike again and put yourself in the way of beauty. I can relate to the joy of finding new flowers and trees—a smile often overcomes me. Loved seeing your zine, too. Have you ever published or sold your writing/art?

You're so kind, Erika! It's always on my list to set up an Etsy store for my art but so far it hasn't happened. I dream about it though.

I can relate -- I feel so much better in every way when I actually get outside, but it's been an adjustment and either very hot or very rainy. We have those pink fluffy trees here too! I need to figure out what they are because I'm always so delighted by them. Those and the magnolia trees, which I'd never seen before moving here.

The pink fluffy tree is a mimosa tree, also called a persian silk tree. I assume they've been in Tennessee for the last 25 years that I've lived here so I don't know how I missed them until last year. It looks like they are considered an invasive tree but I'm still going to enjoy their whimsy.

Magnolia trees, on the other hand, are all over the place here in Tennessee. So fun that you are seeing them for the first time. Are there any trees you miss since coming to NC?

Glad you found mimosa trees! I recall their silkiness on my face as a child!
