Aimee! you've done such a great job in the substack this year. It's fun to look back down the trail that you've retraced in this post! I am a huge fan of your work, I guess you know. :-)

May this coming year be filled with Good and Beautiful Things to light the way.

(and you can be sure - whenever you come up short, I'm always here with a chicken pic for you!!)

Keep on my friend!!

Thanks (again) for walking every step of the way. I'm celebrating all of your words this year, the ones you physically cut and pasted and the ones your put together on your blog, as well as quality time with the chickens. All equally important work in my book.

I love your artwork and your words, and I’ve loved finding a fellow writer in a similar life stage. May 2024 be a year of even deeper discovery of your true self!

This year I created my first ever oil painting, many art journal pages I love, and several pieces of writing I’m proud of.

Thanks, Tresta. And I agree about writing in a similar stage of life!

I've never tried oil painting, what did you think? Will you do more? Do you ever post your art journal pages? I'd love to see them.

I love this thread of creative celebration, can't wait to see what we make in 2024.

I am in love with oil painting after two tiny projects! I’m hoping to do more of it but first I have two baby blankets to crochet.

I’ve posted a couple of art journal pages on my IG but not much. I think I used one in a substack post, too! But my memory is a little whack these days 😂

Wow! Love all the things you have made. I can't believe all the art. So cool. I produced 5 episodes of a podcast, published 12 essays and 26 poems across The Snuggle and Part-Time Poets. I am amazed at the output when you commit to showing up regularly. Looks like you are seeing similar (more extensive) fruit!

Thanks Rebecca. What a great list to celebrate! I'm curious myself about creating podcasts, maybe they will show up on my list in 2024. I've really enjoyed the Part-Time Poets newsletter and loved your latest piece on the pressure to promote our writing.

I couldn't agree more about the commitment to showing up regularly. I know that for me this was a unique year of my life due to various circumstances (more kids moving out, less chronic pain) and I'll be curious to see how the new year takes shape.

Thanks Aimee. So glad to hear you enjoyed them!! Hope next year holds lots of creativity for you! Podcasting was not as complicated to learn as I thought, the main thing is a good microphone. The hardest thing I found was scheduling interviews - everyone I interviewed was a mother of small children, and I am one myself, so once we hit winter it was impossible. It was easier to slot writing in the margins. But podcasting is delightful. I hope to pick it up again later on down the track.

I love the 'zine -- what a neat idea! This year, I "made" 12 posts via my Substack newsletter and another 10 (or so) newsletters for parents/grandparents to help their kids choose great books. I also "made" about a thousand (or more) edits to other writers' books. I consider it a HUGE privilege that so many authors have allowed me to view their words and help them become even better writers than they already are. It's such an honor to work with other creatives; I always learn something new.

What a beautiful list, Brooke. I love that you've made space for your own words as well as helping others shape their words, too! I was always grateful for guidance to find the right books for my kids when they were younger, what a gift. Thanks for joining this mini celebration of making.

Thanks, Annelise. My sick house is mild compare to what you've been through recently since I have people who can disappear and mostly take care of themselves. It's just been a weird December what with two children no longer living at home, losing a pet, and now Covid.

Making space here to celebrate all that you've made with your newsletter this year. The beauty, honesty, grace, poetry, humor and hope that invites your readers in just as they are. I Iook forward to your newsletter every week and I'm thankful for our connection this past year. Merry Christmas!

Love this!! Your drawings are awesome. I especially love the ones in nature! I made with my friend Erin a book: The Beauty of Motherhood: Grace-Filled Devotions for the Early years. It was a years long process but this year we saw the fruit of it in the world!

How awesome to say that you have now birthed a book into the world. We have so many new moms or almost new-moms at our church, I'll be keeping it in mind for a gift! I love how you included "grace-filled" since that is what moms are so in need of in the early years. Well actually, I think we still need grace twenty-three years in.

Yes, all the grace! And that was what guided our writing throughout. Grace and reminding moms that they’re not alone. If you have a moms group or just want to get a group together at your church, I’m happy to join on zoom for a book club of sorts. I’ve done a few and have found them so meaningful for connections and sharing!

What a lovely offer, I'll keep that in mind. I can only imagine how meaningful that would be to connect with women based on a book you wrote!
