I LOVE seeing glimpses of your art and life and how integrated they are! The tomatoes! The hydrangeas!!! All of it!!!! I can’t wait to read the power washer piece. The amount of embarrassment/guilt I feel when someone comes to our front door and can see me laying on my couch is…well, embarrassing.

Thanks Krista! What a fun reflection to spend time on...thanks again for prompting it! I hope you enjoy Kelcey Ervick's work (the powerwashing/reading piece), I think her illustrated newsletter is delightful.

Really enjoyed reading this, and all the garden pictures! I’m missing my flowers this year — I just couldn’t get them planted in time. But those hydrangeas 😍

Thanks, Annelise. Those hydrangeas only exist because my husband is the gardener and he is the most patient and glass half-full man that walks the earth. I was ready for him to toss them a few years ago because they wouldn't bloom and then this year...magic. I'm always surprised that it doesn't take a big garden to bring the joy each summer. (Then again we didn't start planting ANYTHING until after the survival parenting days were over, so you are way ahead!)

My summer is packing and unpacking, moving and settling, learning to navigate life with adult children and less time at the lake than I'd like. Amazingly, I kind of miss those "how will I fill the days" summers with little ones, so I've scheduled an adult field trip to Cheekwood as a coping mechanism. :-)
